In the lecture the following topics will be covered:
- Modellierung praktischer Fragestellungen als Optimierungsprobleme
- Behandlung unrestringierter nichtlinearer Optimierungsprobleme (Optimalitätsbedingungen, Abstiegsverfahren, Newton-Verfahren, Newton-artige und Quasi-Newton-Verfahren, Globalisierung lokal konvergenter Verfahren, Ausgleichsprobleme)
- Einführung in die Restringierte Optimierung (Lineare Optimierung, Optimalitätsbedingungen)
- Ausgewählte numerische Verfahren fur nichtlineare restringierte Probleme

Recommended: Analysis 1-2, LAAG 1-2 and Numerische Mathematik 1
Content of the lecture
In the lecture the following topics will be covered:
- Mathematische Formulierung praktischer Aufgabenstellungen in der Bildverarbeitung
- Theorie und Numerik relevanter Integraltransformationen (z.B. Fourier- und Wavelettransformation)
- Theorie und Numerik nichtglatter, konvexer Optimierung im Zusammenhang mit Aufgaben der Bildverarbeitung (z.B. totale Variation, direkte Methode der Variationsrechnung, Subdifferential, Proximalpunktverfahren, Splitting-Verfahren)
- Ausblick auf weitere Ansätze (z.B. PDE-basiert, Machine learning, etc.)

- Mathematische Formulierung linearer inverser Probleme und Problematik der Schlecht-Gestelltheit
- Einführung der Verallgemeinerten Inversen
- Konzept der Regularisierung
- Theorie und Numerik konkreter Regularisierungsverfahren
- Anwendungsbeispiele
